Bringing Beauty Indoors

Image
When flowers are blooming, I can't resist bringing in a bouquet for the dining room table, and let's face it, anywhere else I can inject a little colour. This week the lilies are blooming....

Reflections ....

Our bathroom has one mirrored wall, and from one angle it looks as if there are multiples of the same view (the room repeats itself to infinity!) I placed the live lily plant in front of the mirror. I love those flowers in the most delicate shades of pink, which seem to bring out the pink tones in the marble. We have had that marble in the room for 22 years, and I have never tired of it.

Front Entrance Re-Do

As soon as our Christmas decorations were put away, my husband began a little redecorating task. He repainted our rather small front entry, and we found a small hall table on sale. The paint is Benjamin Moore Aura, in Venetian Plaster. I still have a little more tweaking to do with accessories. We are using a small trunk for storage, and a fake book which holds pen and paper, messages, etc.

WHITE!

Image
Today the ground is covered in white. Sandi, in her blog: http://sandimyyellowdoor.blogspot.com/ did a post on white, which inspired me to do the same. The large tin ceiling tile is from Eatons, a now-defunct Canadian department store. It was a landmark in downtown Winnipeg, where I spent most of my lunch hours, as I worked right next door. When the building was torn down, my hubby bought one of the tiles for me.

Time for a Change

We are planning to paint our lower level family room. It's been this way for a few years now. What was I thinking when I picked this colour? Actually, it doen't look as vivid in real life. The mantle display was during our home craft sale. Our old sofa, although the fabric wasn't showing wear, was sagging, so we bought a new one in a soft brown leather...comfy! So now I am thinking I'd like to paint the room in either a soft tan, or a soft watery aqua. I have splotched a couple, neither of which does the trick. Hopefully, tomorrow Mr. and I will head out to look at more paint samples. While he is at it, I would like the main floor hall done too. Good thing he doesn't mind painting! My plan is to decorate the family room in a "woodsy" and natural theme., along with some rustic antique accessories we have. We may have to beef up the mantel a bit.
