Tea Time Tuesday, August 25, 2014

Image
I baked a few lemon cupcakes, glazed with lemon. They are very delicate, and the tops are flat, but they are so tasty!  I picked some green flowers from my garden today--Limelight hydrangea, Envy zinnias, lime coleus, and pale green lysianthus. I do love the lysianthus! They also come in shades of pink, white and lavender. The cups and saucers are Gold Chantilly by Royal Worchester and the little green plates are Carltonware, made in Australia. My teapot today is one of several of this type I purchased at Home Sense.

Late Summer

Image
There!---I said it! LATE SUMMER! It got off to a slow start, and I feel I never did catch up. Life's events can do that.  We do know that the seasons will continue to come and go, and summer has done just that. The garden gives us much pleasure...it is good to get out and till, and weed, and enjoy...    We spend quiet moments by the little pond, watching our 4 goldfish Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

A long life. well lived

My dear Mom went Home to be with her Heavenly Father, yesterday. She was 94 years old. The last few years were difficult for her, as she began to experience forgetfulness, and then became weaker. She spent the last 8 weeks in hospital and I calculated that I made 60 trips to visit her there, and I don’t begrudge one minute of it. We had sweet times, but also some stressful ones. The hospital staff were wonderful and kind. I am going to miss them in the days to come. We have so many pleasant memories of our times together. I will always cherish them. A couple photos follow: Mom and Dad in 1937 before their marriage, or shortly after: My Dad was 9 years older than Mom, and was her Grade 8 teacher. We often laughed about that! and Mom, on her 90th birthday: So many things I could say, but I’ll say just one: SHE WAS A GOOD MOM!

Friendship

Image
How blessed we are to have a group of friends who care for, and pray for each other. Some of our family members are also dearest friends. Notice how each flower looks pretty on it’s own, but many together are spectacular?…it’s the same with friends… Have a wonderful weekend, and I hope you will take time to enjoy some time with YOUR friends and family.

Tea Time- May 19,2014- It’s all Blue

Image
A little arrangement in a cup and saucer (Shelley Dainty Blue) ….lungwort, which is an  early bloomer with pink and blue flowers. Thrift shop china, a Denby breakfast cup and saucer, Carlton blue and white, are added to this little setting. For our tea today I prepared a rhubarb-strawberry crisp, …..oh,  so juicy and fresh… Tomorrow the Prince of Wales and Camilla are arriving in Winnipeg, and I am hoping to get to see him on Wednesday (at a distance of course!) This long weekend is honoring his ancestor, Queen Victoria.

Tough Times

My Mom is struggling with dementia, cancer, and now a broken hip. She just wants to go to be with her Heavenly father. As I remember her better years, I think of orchids, her hobby.

Good Friday–The Sacrifice

Image
One of my favourite Biblical statements is “ BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD, WHO TAKES AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD”   I am reposting the white chocolate lamb I made a couple years ago, …a reminder on Good Friday.
