Fab or Foolish?

Some men would cringe at the thought….painting wood….especially brand new out-of-the-box wood furniture!!!
My dear husband doesn’t mind at all…in fact, he is the one who paints everything around the house, ….like the old cane chairs….with great patience

For many years we  had a cupboard in our dining room which matched our dining table which was just, …well it was just a cupboard. Time for a change!
001
We visited a furniture outlet store and measured carefully to find a sideboard which would fit between the windows, and this was the one.Although the tag said we were buying a floor sample, ours came unopened and new.003
A few days later…voila!

It’s been fun dressing the top for fall

If you noticed the brick wall in the photo of the unpainted sideboard above, I have  a  notion to whitewash it, to tone it down somewhat, and I must admit I am a bit hesitant. Stay tuned!

I love the chair with the blue and white fabric and I think you are very brave to paint a brand new piece, which already looked great, but, now it looks fabulous! I thought you were going to paint the tall cabinet at first. I think your brick would look nice white washed. Can't wait to see what you decide to do. Your new buffet looks very pretty for fall and Thanksgiving.

I like the new furniture painted white. Beautiful!!
Hi Millie,
Love that wicker chair! And what a difference in the cabinet after it's been painted white! You have it dressed up so prettily for Autumn too. My hubby has no problem with painting wood either. I think your brick would look fabulous white-washed. I'm so happy you have shared this at my HOME and I wish you and your family a Very Happy Thanksgiving weekend!

Blessings,
Sandi

I love the chair, and the sideboard. Beautiful painted pieces, both of them. I like a mix of painted and wood furniture. My husband likes wood, but I've been able to paint a few things and he does like the look.
What a lovely fall arrangement you've created.

Hi Millie: I love that your hubby paints. Mine will but it is a begging situation! The sideboard looks beautiful in white and I want to thank you for your kind comments on my post. I have gotten more compliments on that little white tea pot. I love it too..Happy Wednesday..Judy

Hi Millie,

So nice to meet another fellow Canadian! I think you're the first blogger I've met from the great province of Manitoba!

Your new white cabinet is beautiful, crisp and clean! Okay, I admit, I am a little biased, as I adore white, (my kitchen cabinets, shutters and windows are all painted white), but it really does look fresh and wonderful, as does that charming cane chair!

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

Your new sideboard is gorgeous! Isn't it amazing what a coat of paint can do to a "pretty nice" piece of furniture!
