Do you, or Don’t You?

When you go to other people’s homes, do you remove your shoes? I have heard it said by British or American folks that you can recognize a Canadian gathering by the shoes by the front door…

The photos show the shoes  in the foyer at a recent family event, and I chuckled at the fact that there were only one or two pair which were neatly placed.

One of our little family members was scolding her Grandpa for wearing shoes in the house, not understanding that they were actually slippers, …so we train 'em while they’re young!

My husband and his family always remove their shoes at the door. Unless I have been gardening in the yard, I hardly ever remove mine.

Our front porch looks like this!
We always remove our footwear. Probably the climate has a lot to do with it. But I remove mine mostly because I think it is courteous and I don't like to track germs through another's home. Have a lovely day.

Blessings,
Sandi

Cute post! Well, I have been in Canada for 40 some odd years and we quickly took to the tradition of removing our shoes when we moved here as kids. It just made sense somehow and I must say I am not happy when people wear their shoes into my house. I am to Canadianized, I guess. Funny, my daughter married an American and has lived in the US for eleven years now and she has taught her children and husband to do the same. Some things are too good to stop doing. Hugs, Cindy S.
We never did get into the habit unless we are coming in from the garden. I'm sure I would have a cleaner house if we did! My high arch requires that I wear a shoe or I pay for it!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm glad your swags went so quickly at your sale. Pictures?????????? :) Donna
